India - developed..?? Underdeveloped..?? Developing..???

I just read this…. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's speech in Hyderabad.

“For fifty years we have been a developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation. We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP. We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are being globally recognized today. Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed nation, self- reliant and self-assured. Isn't this incorrect? “

Ok this was one of his vision.. So can I call India developed..

When I used to get up early in the morning during my college days I used to walk to my bus stop which is quite a distance from my house. It’s a 10 min walk. I used to take a shortcut to the bus stop. I would cross a slum area.. The first thing i used to see when I enter the road was that small kids shitting in the middle of the road.. And yeah even when I returned in the evening it used to remain there… I would see middle age women fighting for water near water tanks.. ah nice words I would hear in the morning from these women.. I would see youngsters playing carom.. They play all day.. How lucky they are.. No work... No tension… and then when I saw this , I was amazed. I saw a 65 year old man in a cycle with at least 20 kg of goods behind him. He was finding it so difficult to balance. But yet he manages. All I was able to do is just feel pity for him.. I see more than 100 small huts.. Some not even the size of my kitchen size. How do people manage to stay here… so after seeing these can I call India Developed…????

And at last when I crossed the road.. Now I would feel fresh air.. It’s the main road … I would gaze upon a new BMW car.. alto.. all big to small cars. My bus stop is siet bus stop. There is a ladies college near by.. I would sight oops sorry..see lots of girls in jeans, T shirt, salwars.. all with mobile phones in their hand. Most of them speaking with it.. and I also saw a vegetable seller using a mobile phone… Government had introduced a/c bus.. So from then I could travel in a/c bus to my college.. Sounds cool… and inside the bus I would see people listening to songs in their I pod. I see people Using blackberry.. I woul see tall buildings, new shopping malls under construction,New roads, new flyovers, traffic well organized… feels so good to travel in these roads.. and I suddenly start thinking.. India is developed man…

So now I am again confused.. The movie “Slumdog Millionaire” has generated a great deal of controversy for its no-holds-barred depiction of terrible poverty and exploitation in India. This was the comment by some critics. But they have not shown anything that does not happen in India. India is a country where one part of the people are developed and the other under developed. 10 of Asia's top 25 are Indian. Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani, chief of Reliance Industries, ranks fourth with $29 billion in U.S. magazine Forbes' annual list of the world's top billionaires. On one hand larger then life malls, luxury foreign car showrooms are opening, on the other hand the agricultural sector, the backbone of the Indian economy is yet to show profits and improvements. One would not know whether to be happy for India or sad at the superficiality of its development. The rich are growing richer and the poor are growing poorer, thanks to the highly unequal distribution of income in the Indian economy!

P.S : If you have money in bank, in your wallet and few coins, then you are one out of eight privileged amongst the 100 persons in the world

Multi tasking!!!!!!

Multi tasking is a word that I am hearing often these days… my boss at office talks to me about multitasking... My friends tells me she is not good at multitasking… another friend of mine tells me he is good at it..
It is given in a dictionary that multitasking means “The ability of a person to perform more than one task at the same time”.
Ok let me analyze myself… how good am I at multitasking...
1. I speak in phone to my friend using hands free
2. I message my other friends in my mobile
3. I chat in yahoo, g talk…
4. I attend quiz in face book
5. I scrap my friends in orkut
6. I also send mails….
7. I listen to songs
8. I check movie reviews, blah.. blah.. blah….
And I do all this at one time…. So I do lot of stuff at one time... so am I very good at multi tasking.. in fact all boys are really good at it.. Most of my friends are capable of doing this.. So we youngsters are good at multi tasking aren’t we..??
Still people call us lazy... irresponsible…When we are able to manage so many things in one shot why people still call us irresponsible…???

last day of my college life!!!!

The day every college student will face in his life "last day of college life". 22nd May was officially the last day of my col life. The previous night my friend called me and asked me to bring my digi cam. It was always fun 2 have a photoshoot, but when it comes to last day its different.

As soon as our exam got over we went to our favourite spot car park.. The place where we had bunked class and spent most of our time , cut n number of birthday cakes, birthday bums, played holi, written assignments (our car park is the safest place in our college to hang out coz there will be no intereference by any teachers or principal) we started taking photos from car park then went on to our main audi, then our dept block, first year block. hmmm.. it was nostalgical.. whenever we reached a place we remembered the funniest or the unforgottable incidents that took place in that place.. we were actually celebrating the last day.. all smiling faces. but deep inside we were unhappy... when i reached the first year block i had a thick feeling inside me... till that i was not really feeling dat it was the last day and all.. few of my friends are going abroad for higher education ... they may not come back for 5 years from now.. few have been placed in companies outside tamil nadu.. everyone are going to get busy with their life..

i usually dont lose contact with my friends .. i still have a very good contact with my friend of 10th and 12th..but wen it comes after college. i have a feeling " this is the end". all things must come to an end... we went back home after dat day in car.. one by one one everyone were getting down in their respective places.. when one of my friend got down (he was the first to get down) he told "bye da"in such a way dat it was the last time we gonna meet.. i seriously had that feeling.. i replied him with a bye, had hand shakes, hugs.. i still remember when i turned back to see his face i thought may be i may not be able to meet him again.. or may be meet him after many years... but its not going to be the same.. the way we had fun together .. when i sit back to think about my favourite memories ... i can keep on telling many many incidents ...it goes on and on... there is just too many good memories that i ll leave behind...

i don know whether i will be able to meet some of my friends again in future.. the memories will be cherished...
